The game of fashion is changing and those that want to succeed know that they have to change with the times. The timing of when clothes actually hit the stores vs. when they were originally shown on the runways has long been a frustration of both designers and their consumers.

High end designers have also struggled with the strong emergence and domination of fast fashion. By the time a Gucci dress or a YSL blouse exits the runway and hits the shelves, everyone from Zara to Forever 21 has already put out their version. For years, brands have struggled with finding a way out of this problem.  Instead of waiting for a collective solution, several designers are breaking away from the pack and the old way of doing things to ensure that their businesses survive and actually thrive.

This past week, Alice and Olivia hosted a see-now-buy-now runway show in Los Angeles. Just in time for Coachella, the collection was an homage to the sixties rock band, the Grateful Dead. Stars like Jennifer Morisson, Anna Paquin, Lisa Edelstein, Garcelle Bauvais, Mischa Barton Moby, Lindsey Vonn, Emily Ratajkowski and many more joined designer, Stacey Bendet as she showcased her highly anticipated Alice + Olivia X Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from her Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items were immediately available at www.aliceandolivia.com and www.neimanmarcus.com.

Notable: Bold stripes on wide leg pants swayed down the runway while crochet vests and off the shoulder blouses transported the audience to the California desert. Detailed embroidery was a recurring theme and so were  some very chic funky prints.
