Designer Claire Pettibone’s latest collection takes us on a magical journey through the gilded age

The Gilded Age - Claire Pettibone

The Gilded Age – Claire Pettibone

I love visiting The Castle. Well, I love visiting castles in general but one in particular was giving me butterflies on this sunny November afternoon. I remember driving by The Castle on Beverly Blvd. in West Hollywood after Designer, Lloyd Klein had vacated the space years ago. I’d often wonder about who would end up there. It had to be someone special doing something magical.

The magical creature that ended up in that space was Claire Pettibone. My first time at The Castle and meeting Claire was at the 20th Anniversary of her brand last year. The incredibly sweet and gracious Designer had filled the space with the most gorgeous gowns, veils, lingerie and flowers. It was like a dream –one you wanted to keep waking up to every morning.

Claire's latest collection was inspired by the gilded age.

Quintessential Claire –  The collection was beautifully crafted, rich in texture and finely embroidered.

I stopped by the castle again for a private viewing of Claire’s latest collection before the holiday season. Inspired by the gilded age, the pieces were quintessential Claire –beautifully crafted, rich in texture and finely embroidered.  I’ll note that although she’s known for her vintage inspired looks, this new collection was impressively quite modern. Brides looking to show a little skin while remaining elegant will love the cut and sexy fit in a variety of the gowns. The piece de resistance and my favorite number also featured a gorgeous cape instead of the traditional veil.

It's all in the details. This cape guarantees an exquisite exit for every bride.

In addition to the new collection, I also got a sneak peek at Claire’s jewelry collaboration with Trumpet and Horn. A lesson in all things delicate and decadent, the pieces featured the most beautiful gold settings with equally stunning stones accompanying them. As I reluctantly left The Castle, I mentioned to Claire that I was very surprised that she’d never gone the jewelry route before. She is after all The Queen of all things pretty.
