The awards season continued last night with the Screen Actors Guild gala and so did the red carpet tango. Hollywood stars descended on the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center to strut their stuff. When it came to trends, white ruled the carpet, red and black followed strong and floral patterns showed a spring state of mind. Scroll down for a complete breakdown of who rocked it and those that missed the mark.
White was the color of the night…

SAG Best Actress Winner and Oscar front runner Natalie Portman was also in white, going with a bejeweled Azzaro gown. Unfortunately, this gown just didn’t work for the pregnant star. The fit looked uncomfortable. A flowing bodice would have served her better.

Another miss in white was Wynona Ryder who wore Alberta Ferretti. Her too-tight bodice and layered skirt with exposed tulle channeled a bad wedding gown.
The blush tones continue…

Rizzoli and Isles star Angie Harmon went ultra feminine in a light pink, feathered Monique Lhuillier.
On the other end of the color spectrum, black was another stand out color on the carpet…

Another Glee star, Diana Agron donned a black and blue Chanel gown. The awkward length of this chic gown unfortunately overwhelmed her petite frame. On the other hand, her hair and makeup were flawless.

Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks also tried something different in a L’Wren Scott wrap dress. Black is 99% of the time a slimming color but this dress gives off a very heavy and dense feel, probably because of the texture. This combined with her dark make up overwhelms her fair features.
Red was another major hue of the night…

Julianna Margulies wore an Yves Saint Laurent creation which featured another big trend of the night, a sweetheart neckline.

Hands down, best dressed of the night was Best Supporting Actress Nominee, Mila Kunis in an absolutely gorgeous and ethereal floral Alexander McQueen
Speaking of floral but not quite in the red category…

Best Actress Winner for the TV Movie Temple Grandin, Claire Danes wears a belted blue and black Louis Vuitton floral creation
Several stars went the metallic route…

Lea Michele wore a slinky and low cut metallic Oscar de la Renta. We may be able to say the Glee star’s devotion to Oscar de la Renta may soon rival Renee Zellweger’s love for all things Carolina Herrera.

30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski played up her pregnancy bump in a chic and short one shouldered Badgely Mischka sheath and nude peep toe pumps.

Mad Men’s January Jones changes things up and goes for gold in a conservative but elegant lace Carolina Herrera. This dress may have looked even better with no sleeves or a different neckline. Nevertheless, kudos to Ms. Jones for never being afraid to try something new.
