Rihanna, Iman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kerry Washington, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lawrence, Diane Kruger and Olivia Wilde. What do these women have in common? The crop top trend taking over Hollywood. We already know that fashion designers love to take inspiration from the past but we figured we still had a few years (more like decades) to go before we’d go robbing the styles from the 90s. Turns out we were wrong. From the red carpet to street style, we can’t help but notice the latest obsession of showing off one’s tummy. The question is though, at what age does it become a little ridiculous to be baring one’s stomach?

Don’t get us wrong, these ladies are all fabulous and stylish in their own way and although we come from the school of less is more, we can’t help but think that we want more (coverage that is) in this instance. In an age where 50 is the new 40, 40 is the new 30 and 30 is the new 20, we can certainly understand the need to keep up. In Hollywood especially, there seems to always be a running theme of “anything you can do, I can do better”. Keeping this in mind, we still believe in always keeping things classy. The ladies that came before did it. We can’t even imagine Audrey Hepburn walking down the red carpet in a crop top. What do you think of this trend? Is it appropriate for all ages?
